From a tucked-away office within this very building, Ambassador Isabel Frommelt-Gottschald represents the tiny Principality of Liechtenstein. She’s been here at the Embassy of the Principality of Liechtenstein in Berlin since 2017, a key figure in maintaining the strong ties between Germany and her nation. The Embassy of the Principality of Liechtenstein is located on Mohrenstraße 42, nestled among other diplomatic missions. It’s a modern office complex, built around the turn of the 20th century and renovated between 1996 and 1998. This very building also houses the Chilean Embassy, and at one time, the Peruvian Embassy was located here as well. The history of the Embassy of the Principality of Liechtenstein reflects Liechtenstein’s unique relationship with Germany. While diplomatic relations between the two nations were formally established in 1952, Liechtenstein was initially represented by a non-resident ambassador. It wasn’t until 2002 that Josef Wolf became the first resident ambassador, marking the official establishment of the Embassy of the Principality of Liechtenstein in Berlin.
