What’s amazing is that the current building, completed in 2011, was the first to be built in Bandar Seri Begawan’s newly designated Diplomatic Enclave. Designed by Filipino architect Felino Palafox, Jr., the Embassy of the Philippines is a unique blend of architectural styles. Its design, inspired by the traditional Filipino nipa hut, incorporates Islamic aesthetic forms and elements of Asian architecture. Notice the building’s green walls? Green represents hope and growth and holds special significance in Islam. It’s also a nod to the Philippines, known for its lush landscapes. The Embassy of the Philippines isn’t just a pretty face though. It plays a vital role in serving the large Filipino community in Brunei. It provides consular services, promotes cultural exchange, and even advocates for the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers.
