Mr. Augusto C. Zamora Rodriguez leads the embassy. He serves as the Ambassador of Nicaragua to Spain. The embassy acts as a bilateral mission. It strengthens the ties between Nicaragua and Spain.

Need to apply for a Nicaraguan passport? The process is now entirely online. Visit the Ministry of the Interior of Nicaragua’s website. Complete the application there.

First, create a user account. Register your personal details. Then, log in and select the passport application. Fill out all the required information.

Importantly, online payment is required. Forget about paying at the bank. Upload a JPG format photo. For passport collection, no personal visit is needed.

Send a prepaid envelope to the embassy. Include a letter authorizing them to mail your passport. They will return your new passport by post.

You can request criminal background checks here too. Fill out the application at the embassy. Include a copy of your passport or Nicaraguan ID. Provide three passport-size photos.

Pay the 20.00 USD fee. Deposit it into the specified bank account. Make sure the deposit slip includes your full name and the purpose of payment.

Consular registration is also available. Fill out the registration form. Provide passport photocopies and any other IDs. Include a passport-size photo with a white background. The fee is 5.00 euros.

The Embassy of Nicaragua handles birth registrations. Provide the child’s birth certificate. Include copies of both parents’ IDs. A marriage certificate is needed if the parents are married. This service is free for children under seven.

Marriage registrations require a marriage certificate. You also need copies of the couple’s IDs. The fee is 10.00 USD. Death registrations are also handled here. This is free of charge.

The Embassy of Nicaragua processes public deeds. These include travel authorizations and powers of representation. For powers of attorney, bring copies of relevant documents. This could include property deeds or bank account details.

For minors traveling, both parents must authorize the travel. If a parent is not in Spain, they must provide authorization. This must be done through a Nicaraguan notary or consulate.

Note that appointments are often needed. Book yours by emailing consulnicespanacitasprevias@gmail.com. The consular section operates Monday to Friday from 9 am to 2 pm. Saturdays hours are from 9 am to 1 pm.
