Colonel Jehiel Elyachar, a generous benefactor, provided the funding for the library building. In his honor, it was named after him. Built in 1965, the Elyachar Central Library building stands as a testament to Brutalist architecture, designed by Arieh Sharon and Benjamin Edelson.
