A haven of greens and fairways. That’s Elm Park Golf and Sports Club for you. Established in 1925 it’s more than just a golf course. It’s a living testament to Dublin’s sporting heritage. Picture this. Elm Park House and its surrounding lands. This is where our story begins. Purchased in 1924 the house became the heart of a new club. A 9-hole golf course opened its gates to 254 eager members. Tennis courts soon followed adding another dimension to the club’s allure.

But Elm Park’s path wasn’t without its challenges. In 1933 part of the land was sold. It made way for St Vincent’s Hospital. The club faced adversity. Then in 1936 it secured a lease on Nutley House. This marked a new chapter for Elm Park. A 9-hole golf course and tennis courts were reopened. A phoenix rising from the ashes.

The Second World War brought about a temporary expansion. The course reached 18 holes. However this expansion was short-lived. In 1956 the land had to be returned. The club shrank again. Undeterred Elm Park continued its journey. The purchase of the Bloomfield property in 1960. Once again an 18-hole course flourished. In 1976 the clubhouse expanded. A dining room a function room locker rooms all came to life. More land was acquired in 1994 further solidifying the club’s presence.

In 2002 a redesign transformed the greens. Golf Course Architect Patrick Merrigan took the lead. His design prioritized drive placement and second shot value. Strategically placed bunkers added a new layer of challenge. Today Elm Park boasts more than just golf. There are 14 tennis courts a driving range an 18-hole putting green and a practice ground. The Elm Park Stream flows through the course creating unique water features.

Elm Park Golf and Sports Club isn’t just about the game. It’s about community. The club has hosted numerous events. It also welcomes visitors to enjoy its beautiful views and welcoming atmosphere. From its humble beginnings to its present-day success Elm Park’s story is a remarkable one. It’s a story of resilience growth and enduring spirit. A story etched into the fairways. A story whispered by the winds. A story waiting to be discovered by you.
