Situated in Schaerbeek near Brussels-North station the Ellips-gebouw boasts a height of 80 meters. It consists of three distinct sections. A 21-story tower forms the centerpiece. It’s an elliptical marvel its unique shape giving the entire complex its name.

Two additional buildings flank the tower. One is a seven-story structure. The other is smaller a three-story building that completes the ensemble. These three parts are linked by a common entrance. It creates a cohesive whole a functional and aesthetically pleasing complex.

The Ellips-gebouw is more than just a beautiful building. It’s a functional space. Office spaces occupy much of the 32065 square meters. For a time the Flemish government housed various departments within its walls. Specific departments included Agriculture and Fisheries Employment and Social Economy and Welfare Public Health and Family. In 2024 several of these departments relocated to the Marie-Elisabeth Belpairegebouw. Yet even with this shift the building remains largely occupied showcasing its enduring appeal and practicality.

Montois Partners Architects and Art & Build brought their expertise to the project. The construction spanned from 2004 to 2007. The official inauguration took place on January 25 2007.
