Elim Assembly Of God wasn’t always here on this site. Its story begins much earlier connected to a rich history of missionary work in Malaysia. Early missionaries from Plymouth England arrived in 1891. They laid the foundation for what would become this vibrant community. The work expanded. New halls were built. Through grace and humility the Gospel spread.
The current building though is a more recent addition. Its construction reflects growth and expansion. The original Jalan Imbi Chapel opened in 1962. It had a capacity of just 300. Yet the congregation thrived. It expanded and extended over the years. Gifted servants of God taught the word. Easter conferences drew assemblies together.
In the early 2000s a significant change occurred. The Bukit Bintang Girls’ School a place deeply intertwined with the assembly’s history was closed. This loss spurred the need for more space. A four-storey extension was built and opened in 2005. This addition provides space for a multitude of functions a large hall administrative offices a library a nursery and more.
Today Elim Assembly Of God serves both English and Chinese-speaking congregations. It continues its mission of spreading the Gospel. It offers Bible studies fellowship and various ministries. The building itself stands as a symbol of enduring faith resilience and the power of community.
