Originally, the area was part of St. Vincent de Paul. In 1904, part of the territory was used to create Saint-Elzu00e9ar de Laval. More changes occurred in 1926 with the creation of Pont-Viau. Another section split in 1952 to form the city of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul. In 1957, St. Vincent de Paul changed its name to Duvernay. It became a city in 1958 and a citu00e9 in 1962. All these areas were consolidated into Laval in 1965.
