Now, let’s step back in time. The building housing \u00c9glise Biblique Pierre Angulaire was constructed between 1950 and 1953. Joseph-Armand Dutrisac designed it. Leclair and Dupuis were the contractors. The walls are made of stone. The roof? Copper.
Initially, this space belonged solely to the Catholic parish of Saint-Barth\u00e9lemy. Mgr Georges Gauthier established the parish on December 22, 1926. He was the auxiliary bishop of Montr\u00e9al. The territory came from the parishes of Saint-Bernardin-de-Sienne and Saint-Marc.
The Saint-Barth\u00e9lemy parish first used a converted commercial store. Later, they moved to a temporary brick church. This lasted for years before settling into this current building.
Inside \u00c9glise Biblique Pierre Angulaire, you would see a rectangular shape without a transept. The chancel protrudes. The apse is flat. The nave boasts polygonal arches.
Look around and imagine the original details of the building. Fourteen stained glass windows created by Guido Nincheri were installed in 1955. In 1960, a five-bell carillon was added. It was cast in Annecy-le-Vieux France.
