Completed in 1977, the Edificio Cadagua stands as a testament to Madrid’s ever-evolving skyline. This 14-story office building, originally home to Banco Zaragozano, later housed Ahorro Corporacion. The Edificio Cadagua is nestled within the bustling AZCA financial district. AZCA, a prominent business hub, occupies a city block defined by Raimundo Fernández Villaverde, Orense, General Perón streets, and the Paseo de la Castellana. From the Edificio Cadagua, you can spot the iconic Torre Picasso, once the tallest building in Madrid. AZCA’s origins trace back to the 1946 Bidagor Urban Development Plan. This plan envisioned a massive office complex with underground traffic and pedestrian walkways above. It even included plans for an opera house, library, and botanical garden, which unfortunately never materialized. At the time of its conception, AZCA was on the outskirts of the city. The Edificio Cadagua stands as a symbol of AZCA’s transformation from a peripheral area to the heart of Madrid’s financial district.
