The church operates under the blessing of Archbishop Peter. He heads the Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. This branch maintains full canonical union with the Moscow Patriarchate. However it functions with administrative autonomy.
Its rector Archpriest Christopher Allen is a unique figure. He’s a convert to Orthodoxy. Before joining the Orthodox Church he was an Anglican priest. Father Christopher’s journey includes serving as a chaplain in the Navy. He served in Okinawa and even undertook a special mission in Afghanistan. This mission provided ministry to Orthodox personnel involved in Operation Enduring Freedom. His background also includes two degrees in linguistics. He also holds a Master of Divinity from Boston University. He dedicated many years to instructing English as a Second Language at Lackland Air Force Base.
