Dubai Marina, also known as Marsa Dubai, sits along a 3-kilometer stretch of Persian Gulf shoreline. The area can house over 120000 people. Dubai Marina is located between Jebel Ali Port and Dubai Internet City.

In 2003, construction began. Dubai Marina was inspired by Concord Pacific Place in Vancouver, Canada. The developers brought Persian Gulf waters into the site. This created a new waterfront. A large central waterway was carved from the desert. It runs the length of the site.

More than 12% of the land is public space. This includes almost 8 kilometers of walkways. These walkways are beautifully landscaped. Emaar Properties developed the marina. HOK Canada designed it.

Phase I of Dubai Marina covers 10 hectares. It includes six apartment buildings called the Dubai Marina Towers. Phase I cost over AED 1.2 billion. Three towers are named after precious stones. These are Al Mass, Fairooz, and Murjan. The other three are named after Arabic scents. These are Mesk, Anbar, and Al Yass.

Phase II features high-rise buildings. These buildings range from 250 to 300 meters tall. Cayan Tower, Ocean Heights, and Marina Pinnacle are part of this phase. Ciel Tower rises to 366 meters.

The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence is a 1.7-kilometer strip. It officially opened in August 2008. It has become a major tourist attraction. Al Sahab is a residential complex of two towers. It overlooks the largest bay in Dubai Marina.

Dubai Marina Mall is a shopping center in the heart of Dubai Marina. It has 140 retail outlets. The mall opened in December 2008. It is linked to the JW Marriott Hotel Marina.

Want to travel around Dubai Marina? The Sobha Realty metro station is nearby. It opened in 2010. The Dubai Tram also operates in the area. It runs 14.5 kilometers along Al Sufouh Road.

For thrill-seekers, there is a zipline. It links Dubai Marina with Dubai Marina Mall. The take-off platform is 170 meters above ground. The top speed is 80 kilometers per hour. Dubai Marina Walk is another popular attraction. You can also find yacht tours.
