Originally known as Leavey Field Drollinger Field has hosted countless games and practices. Loyola Marymount University’s club sports and intramural teams regularly utilize the space. The field even serves as the permanent home for the annual Shakespeare on the Bluff Festival. This free outdoor Shakespeare festival is a beloved community event. A slight slant can cause drainage issues. The bleacher seating is limited. Over-kicked soccer balls can cause delays. The turf can get incredibly hot. Yet despite these minor drawbacks Drollinger Field remains a vital part of LMU’s campus. It offers a unique blend of recreation and performance. Its story is one of adaptation and community.
