“Drench a Wench” may sound like a peculiar phrase. But it’s all fun and games here at the Texas Renaissance Festival. This isn’t just any game. It’s a chance to embrace the spirit of the Renaissance.

Drench a Wench is one of the many attractions. TomCat Games operates it. TomCat Games has been bringing family fun to the Texas Renaissance Festival for years. Tom and Cas bought the operation from Nichols Games seven years ago.

Cas has worked with the games since 2009. She started at the Swings and the Drench a Wench.

TomCat Games offers 29 different games and rides. These vary from a giant maze to the Museum of Cruelty.

Tom says all games are designed for the experience. He would rather someone learn a new skill. Shooting a longbow or throwing a battleaxe are good examples. He prefers this to winning a silly prize.

TomCat Games tries to put as much labor of love into the Texas Renaissance Festival as possible. They transformed Neptune’s Swings by the lake into a full-size pirate ship. They didn’t have to build that. But they wanted to.

TomCat Games employs close to 100 people on weekends. They also have three full-time workers year-round. Every year is spent improving the games. They rebuild older structures and get everything ready for the upcoming season.

They travel the country and world looking for new ideas and rides. Tom says they are always looking for fun new ideas. They also look for different takes on classic games. Seeing people laugh lets them know they have done their job right.

So, step right up. Take your best shot. Will you drench the wench or miss your mark? Either way, you will have an unforgettable Renaissance experience.
