“1500 students can sit here” echoes in my mind. This is the Dr AP.J Abdul Kalam Lecture Theatre Complex. It stands proudly at the Netaji Subhas University of Technology. Imagine the buzz of young minds filling these halls. They are ready to shape India’s future.
The Dr AP.J Abdul Kalam Lecture Theatre Complex was inaugurated January 23 2021. Manish Sisodia unveiled the national flag here. The date marked the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. What a great tribute to Netaji it was. The biggest tribute to Netaji would be creating a strong nation through education.
The Dr AP.J Abdul Kalam Lecture Theatre Complex is part of Netaji Subhas University of Technology. NSUT is the only technology university in India named after Netaji. It has eleven halls. The complex provides space for many students. 1500 students can occupy it at once. Also a new computer center was started at NSUT. It can hold 400 machines. Enrollment at the university has risen. Fourteen graduate and twelve postgraduate courses recently started.
Let’s talk about Dr AP.J Abdul Kalam. He was the eleventh President of India. He was also known as the People’s President. Abdul Kalam hailed from Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu. He served in DRDO and ISRO. There he was a scientist and science coordinator. Kalam contributed to India’s ballistic missile systems. He also contributed to the Pokhran II test site. This was India’s first successful nuclear test. Kalam always promoted scientific studies.
He encouraged young people to study science. He believed India’s development lies in science. APJ Abdul Kalam received the Bharat Ratna. This is India’s highest civilian honor.
Many things are named after Dr AP.J Abdul Kalam. There is the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex in Hyderabad. There is the Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Science City in Patna. Also there is the Dr. Abdul Kalam Science Centre and Planetarium in Puducherry. A road in New Delhi was renamed Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road. Wheeler Island was renamed Abdul Kalam Island. A peak in the Himalayas was named Mount Kalam.
