Is faith ever truly gone? At Divine Unity Missionary Baptist Church, it’s a question that resonates deeply. The church we see today wasn’t always known as Divine Unity. Its story began on March 29, 1992, from the embers of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. It was then that Deacon Damon Turnipseed posed a powerful question to the congregation: “Do you want to stay together?” From this question, Good Street Baptist Church emerged, holding its first service at Dodd-Sterling United Methodist Church. The spirit of unity was strong. On August 14, 1992, they chose the name Divine Unity Missionary Baptist Church, a testament to their shared faith. Their new journey began, and on April 29, 1997, they received an incredible blessing: their current home. On May 4, 1997, they marched into their new sanctuary, filled with joyous songs and praise. Divine Unity Missionary Baptist Church stands as a testament to the enduring strength of faith and the power of community. It reminds us that even when one chapter closes, a new one can begin, filled with hope and the unwavering belief in a brighter tomorrow.
