Hidden amidst Ankara’s urban sprawl lies Dikmen Köyü Mezarlığı, a cemetery steeped in quiet stories. Dikmen Köyü Mezarlığı is more than just a resting place. It’s a poignant reflection of Ankara’s past, holding within its grounds the memories of generations. This cemetery, tucked away in the Dikmen neighborhood of Beypazarı, Ankara, bears witness to the passage of time. Its location, near Menekşe Sokak, is nestled within the embrace of Dikmen’s boundaries, its coordinates precisely marking its place at 40.05801100 latitude and 32.00356100 longitude. Dikmen Köyü Mezarlığı has faced its share of challenges. Years ago, the cemetery fell victim to neglect. Sewage water, suspected to originate from nearby luxury housing, flooded the grounds. The overflow, stemming from a blocked sewer line near Akasya Sitesi and the TBMM Housing, damaged the cemetery walls and submerged graves. The persistent sewage created a breeding ground for flies and an unbearable stench. This once-sacred ground became overrun with trash, debris, and even stray dogs. The neglect sparked outrage from those visiting their loved ones’ graves. Despite pleas to local authorities like ASKİ and Çankaya Municipality, the situation remained dire, threatening to completely submerge Dikmen Köyü Mezarlığı under a tide of wastewater. More recently, another scandal plagued Dikmen Köyü Mezarlığı. Construction debris was illegally dumped within the cemetery grounds, further desecrating the resting places of those buried there. This act of disrespect added another layer of distress for families visiting the cemetery, their loved ones’ graves threatened by encroaching waste. The plight of Dikmen Köyü Mezarlığı serves as a somber reminder of the importance of respecting and preserving our shared history.
