\u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n is a town in the South Central Coast region of Vietnam. It is north of Quang Nam province. The town is about 45 km from Tam Ky city. It is roughly 25 km from Da Nang and about 10 km from Hoi An.

In 2019, \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n had over 226000 residents. About 42% lived in urban areas. The rest lived in rural areas.

The history of \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n goes way back. Once, it was part of Viet Thuong under the Hung kings. Later it fell under Chinese rule. Then it was part of the Champa kingdom. In 1306, a princess married a Cham king. As a gift, two regions were given to the Tran dynasty. \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n became part of Hoa Chau.

Nguyen Trai mentioned \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n in 1435. It was described as 95 villages in Trieu Phong district. In 1471, King Le Thanh Tong created Quang Nam đạo thừa tuyên. In 1520, it became Tran Quang Nam.

In 1602, Nguyen Hoang changed it to Dinh Quang Nam. By 1604, \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n became a Phu and joined Quang Nam. The Dinh Tran of Quang Nam was in Thanh Chiem.

In 1803, King Gia Long created Dinh Quang Nam. It had two Phu: Thang Hoa and \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n. Phu \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n included Dien Phuoc and Hoa Vang. By 1806, Dinh Quang Nam became Truc Le Quang Nam Dinh. Later, it became Tran Quang Nam in 1827. In 1832, it became Quang Nam province. The Quang Nam province building was built in La Qua village. That village is now Vinh \u0110i\u1ec7n.

In 1899, \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n added Dai Loc district. In the early 20th century, Dien Phuoc became what we know as \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n today. After 1975, \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n was part of Quang Nam.

Vinh \u0110i\u1ec7n became a town on September 23, 1981. On November 6, 1996, \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n became part of the newly re-established Quang Nam province.

In 2005, some communes were divided to create new ones. On March 10, 2014, Vinh \u0110i\u1ec7n was recognized as a type IV urban area. By the end of 2014, \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n had 20 administrative units.

On March 11, 2015, \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n became a town. Vinh \u0110i\u1ec7n and six communes became seven wards. Today, \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n has twelve wards and eight communes.

\u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n is an industrial hub. It is also a center for trade, tourism, and services. It boasts traditional craft villages. Dien Phuong is known for bronze casting. Phuoc Kieu makes copper products. Nguyen Van Tiep makes fine art wood items.

From 2007 to 2009, \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n saw high economic growth. The economy shifted towards industry. Industry, services, and agriculture made up 74%, 17%, and 9% respectively.

Notably, \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n has developed industrial clusters. As of now many businesses operate there. They provide jobs for locals.

Tourism is also developing in \u0110i\u1ec7n B\u00e0n. Ha My beach in Dien Duong is growing quickly.
