“Since 1986…” That’s how long the Dhammagroup in Brussels has been a haven for Theravada Buddhism. It’s a place dedicated to Vipassana meditation as practiced in Burma.

The Dhammagroup offers a sanctuary in this bustling city. It is a place where people can explore the depths of their minds through meditation. The aim is to spread the knowledge of Vipassana.

Here at the Dhammagroup, you can find guided group meditation sessions. They are held multiple times a week. Specifically, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. These sessions provide an opportunity to meditate with others.

For those seeking a deeper dive, the Dhammagroup offers one-day meditation retreats. These take place on the second Sunday of each month. The retreat runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It provides an extended period of contemplation and mindfulness.

For an even more immersive experience, consider the weekend intensive retreats. These retreats occur on the last weekend of each month. They start on Friday at 7 p.m. and end on Sunday at 4 p.m.

The Dhammagroup has multiple locations to accommodate practitioners. There is the meditation room on Rue de la duchesse in Brussels. Also the meditation room in Boitsfort. The headquarters are in Riviere.

The Dhammaramsi Meditation Centre in Riviere offers retreats and weekly sessions. It also offers individual stays. Study and courses are available here too.

The Dhammagroup maintains connections with other Buddhist centers. These include the Meditation Group Antwerp, Dhamma Group Leuven and Meditation Group Gent. Each center provides unique opportunities for meditation and study.

The Vipassana retreats follow the Burmese Mahasi tradition. They are held at the Dhammaramsi Meditation Centre in Riviere. Several times a year, monks and nuns teach here.

These teachers were trained by Sayadaw U Pandita. Because of the generosity of the owners, costs for food and lodging are lower.

So, whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or just curious about meditation, the Dhammagroup offers a welcoming space to explore Vipassana. It offers a path to inner peace and understanding. Remember the Dhamma Group Brussels.
