A sacred stone journey. That’s the legend of Dev Mandir. Right here in Delhi.
Dev Mandir isn’t just a temple. It’s a living testament to faith. A place where history whispers through ancient stones. It’s nestled on eight acres of land. This isn’t just any temple. It’s a hub of devotion. It’s a place where twelve villages once worshipped Dada Dev Ji as their Gram Devta.
The story begins long ago. In 781 or perhaps 838 AD. Saints Ramdev and Jaidev had a dream. A dream that led them to Tonk in Rajasthan. They carried a sacred stone back to Delhi. It was a long journey. The stone fell from their cart in the dark. That’s where Dev Mandir now stands.
Dada Dev’s murti sits atop the sacred stone. Baba Uddha Das and Baba Puran Nath renovated the temple in 1902. It has grown since. It now includes a Dharmshala with four halls. There’s also a medical dispensary. And even a school for disabled children. The temple complex is massive.
Devotees come bearing offerings. Gud ki bheli. Chaddar. Thousands of bheli are offered daily. The sweet gud is then donated. It goes to Gaushalas in Najafgarh Bawana or Narela. Even the mustered oil for Shani Dev finds its way to the cows.
The architecture itself tells a story. The Shiv Mandir is decorated with Nagas. This reflects the belief that Lord Shiva and Nagas are connected. The viman reflects this belief beautifully. At the entrance stands Pratham Shri Ganesha. He is the lord of happiness.
More than just a place of worship Dev Mandir offers a pond. A garden. A mela ground. It has a main queue hall leading to the prayer hall. Two white elephants stand guard. There are four white temples. A Yagya Shala where fire rituals are performed. The temple also protects a sacred Rama Setu stone from Rameswaram. Itβs a stunning display of faith.
Dev Mandir is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a journey of faith. A place of healing. A community center. Come explore its wonders. Feel the weight of history. Experience the devotion that pulses within its sacred walls. You won’t regret your visit to this incredible place.
