Opened in 2012 through the YMCA, Detroit Leadership Academy has quickly become a cornerstone of its community. Detroit Leadership Academy, or DLA as it’s often called, serves students from pre-K all the way through 12th grade. It operates across two campuses on Detroit’s west side. The academy’s mission is clear: to equip students for success, not just in their next educational step, but also to ensure they’re prepared for college, both acceptance and graduation. Detroit Leadership Academy fosters a culture of achievement, blending high expectations with strong support. They understand the challenges many students face and incorporate trauma-informed education and targeted interventions. Beyond academics, Detroit Leadership Academy recognizes the importance of a well-rounded education. Students have access to before and after care, free transportation, honors classes, clubs, sports, and mentoring programs. Detroit Leadership Academy is more than just a school. It’s a community hub, dedicated to nurturing the potential within each student and empowering them to become future leaders.
