Originally, Denzlingen/Unterglottertal comprised two distinct settlements: Niederdorf and Oberdorf. Both nestled along the Glotter River. They were situated on an ancient path, known as the “Herrenweg”, connecting Riegel am Kaiserstuhl to the Glottertal. Over time, these two villages merged, forming the elongated village we see today, sometimes called “Langendenzlingen,” meaning “Long Denzlingen”.
