Had you visited Demetevler Lunaparkı years ago, you’d have found a very different scene. Let’s journey back in time to understand its evolution. Demetevler Lunaparkı was once a vibrant amusement park within Demetevler Parkı in the Yenimahalle district of Ankara. It was a place of laughter and thrilling rides.
But times change and so do community needs. The old Demetevler Lunaparkı became underutilized and somewhat problematic. Locals voiced concerns. Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyesi listened. A transformation was planned.
The vision was to create a space for everyone. The old Demetevler Lunaparkı area was reimagined as Yaşam Demeti Parkı. This new park covers 12,000 square meters. A significant portion, 9,000 square meters, is dedicated green space. Over 500 trees were planted.
Yaşam Demeti Parkı offers facilities for all ages. There is a BelPa Kafe for refreshments. A nursery provides childcare services. Senior citizens have a dedicated space. A youth center caters to teenagers. Fitness enthusiasts can use the fitness area. Sports lovers can enjoy the basketball, tennis, and football fields. Children have their own playground. Even table tennis is available.
The transformation of Demetevler Lunaparkı into Yaşam Demeti Parkı cost approximately 17.5 million TL. The Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyesi funded the project. Several departments collaborated including Çevre Koruma Daire Başkanlığı, Fen İşleri Dairesi Başkanlığı, Kent Estetik Daire Başkanlığı and BelPa.
Local residents are thrilled with the new park. They appreciate the safe environment for children. They also value the recreational opportunities for all ages. Mevlüt Ali Yeşilöz praises the park as a great asset for both the elderly and the young. He appreciates the cafes, libraries and computer access for young people.
While the rides of Demetevler Lunaparkı are now a memory, Yaşam Demeti Parkı offers something more valuable. It is a community hub. It brings people together. It promotes health and well-being. It is a testament to Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyesi’s commitment to its citizens.
Three roller coasters once operated here. Brucomela was a steel sit-down family coaster. There was also a Tornado Ren Expresi steel sit-down family coaster. These rides are now defunct. They represent a different era for the park.
The spirit of Demetevler Lunaparkı lives on. It lives on in the laughter of children playing in the park. It lives on in the conversations of neighbors sharing coffee at BelPa Kafe. It lives on in the active bodies using the sports facilities. The transformation is complete. Yaşam Demeti Parkı is now a vibrant heart of Demetevler.
