Right here in Cambria Heights, on Linden Boulevard, stands the Deliverance Baptist Church, a testament to a vision ignited by Reverend Darryl C. Fennell. It all began in 2002, not within these grand walls, but as a humble mission. This was no ordinary mission. It was a vision nurtured within Reverend Fennell for over twenty years during his time at the Maranatha Baptist Church. He yearned to guide God’s people to a higher plane of worship, a “higher place of praise” as he called it. And so, Deliverance Mission was born. From its humble beginnings in a one-room office space on 192nd Street and Linden Blvd, the mission blossomed. The congregation grew, fueled by faith and the desire to serve their community. Soon, by the grace of God, they outgrew that small space and moved to the larger facility you see today, the Deliverance Baptist Church. But the journey wasn’t always easy. The church faced trials and tribulations, “peaks and some valleys” as they say, but their spirit remained unbroken. They never lost their praise, their unwavering faith in a brighter tomorrow. Today, the Deliverance Baptist Church stands as a beacon of hope for the Cambria Heights community, a testament to the unwavering faith of its congregation and the leadership of Reverend Fennell.
