“Better on Paper” exhibits visionary works of art. This exhibit is just one reason to visit the Davis Museum and Cultural Center. The Davis Museum’s origins trace back to 1889. At that time, it was the Wellesley College Museum. It was located in the Farnsworth Art Building. In 1993, the museum experienced a transformation. It moved to a new building. Rafael Moneo designed this new space. It became the Davis Museum and Cultural Center.

The Davis Museum got its name from Shelby and Kathryn Davis. They were the principal donors. The Davis Museum is located on the campus of Wellesley College. You can find it at 106 Central Street in Wellesley, Massachusetts. The Davis Museum’s exhibitions and programs serve the campus community. They also serve the public. Amanda Gilvin and Sonja Novak Koerner curated “Better on Paper.” Gilvin is the interim co-director. Koerner is the senior curator of Collections. Other works include Architects of the Future, City Inside Her by Chitra Ganesh. Selections by multimedia artist Jo Sandman are also included.

Ruth R Rogers is the curator of Special Collections. She is also a visiting lecturer in the Art Department. Rogers said “Better on Paper” is a tremendous opportunity. The College Library’s Special Collections can be seen by a wider audience. “Better on Paper” shares a selection of international, rare books. Contemporary artists’ books are also on display. These materials are the basis of teaching and research on campus.
