“The salty air whispers secrets of the past” Don’t you agree? We stand before Dar Bouazza a municipality brimming with history and transformation.

Dar Bouazza a rapidly growing suburb of Casablanca is more than just a pretty face. It boasts beautiful beaches a testament to its coastal charm. This wasn’t always the case. Imagine a time before the seaside resorts before the influx of residents. In the 1940s the Jaquier family took a chance. They built the first seaside resort. Jack Beach a legacy of their vision remains a popular spot to this day.

Dar Bouazza’s history is interwoven with the land and its people. It transitioned from a rural farming and fishing community. The population exploded. It transformed into a thriving residential area and tourist destination. This rapid growth put a strain on the infrastructure. It also highlighted existing challenges such as illiteracy poverty and marginalization. The 2004 census revealed a population of 115367 a significant increase from 45177 in 1994.

But Dar Bouazza also preserves its past. The wetlands or dayas represent a unique ecosystem. They are a vital part of the Casablanca area. Since 2011 researchers have identified 177 bird species in the wetlands. The dayas are however facing threats. Dumping and construction are putting this precious natural habitat at risk.

The intermittent Wadi Merzeg a lifeline for the region flows through Dar Bouazza. This waterway is more than just a geographical feature. It symbolizes the lifeblood of this community connecting past and present. The story of Dar Bouazza is etched not only in its sands but also in the hearts of its people.

In 2008 Dar Bouazza became a municipality. This marked a turning point in its administrative history. Before that it was a rural commune. In that same year the rural commune of Ouled Azzouz separated from Dar Bouazza. This division reflects the municipality’s evolving identity. Its growth stretches beyond the boundaries of the traditional. It extends towards a modern future while still valuing its heritage.

The presence of the Ecole Belge de Casablanca primary school in Tamaris is a noteworthy fact. This institution opened in 2015. It demonstrates the international appeal of Dar Bouazza. It shows that this suburb is becoming a place for people from various backgrounds to live and learn. Dar Bouazza is a testament to the dynamism of Morocco. It’s a place where tradition embraces modernity. It’s a place worth exploring. It’s a place worth remembering. A place you will never forget.
