Hidden amidst the urban tapestry of Reinickendorf, near Kurt-Schumacher-Platz, lies the Dankes-Kirchhof. This tranquil oasis, a 14-hectare sanctuary of remembrance, has witnessed the passage of time since 1887. The Dankes-Kirchhof, bordered by Blankesträße, Ollenhauerstraße, and Gotthardstraße, offers a serene escape from the city’s hustle. Mature trees, expansive lawns, and verdant meadows give Dankes-Kirchhof a park-like ambiance. Within its grounds, a chapel with 70 seats welcomes all for memorial services. Our organist can fulfill musical requests suitable for the organ. During summer, the chapel also hosts concerts. Every year on Ewigkeitssonntag (Sunday of Eternity), a trombone choir plays at 2:30 pm near the chapel. This precedes a devotional service at 3:00 pm. The chapel is accessible to all, with barrier-free access and a restroom for disabled individuals. A newly restored mausoleum offers interment within an urn wall. A children’s meadow, adorned with a poignant sculpture by Susanne Wehland, provides a place for the collective burial of stillborn infants from the Charité hospital. Individual burials are also possible upon request. The Dankes-Kirchhof embraces various forms of burial. A Garden of Remembrance blends seamlessly into the landscape. Urn community plots are situated near the Gotthardstraße entrance. These plots feature evergreen groundcover, creating a sense of tranquility. Community urn plots with name inscriptions under the lawn are available for €1,244.00, including inscription on a granite plaque. Individual headstones, chosen by families and adhering to specific guidelines, honor the uniqueness of each life. Single urn plots cost €1,190.80 and double urn plots cost €1,847.40, both excluding the headstone. The Dankes-Kirchhof also offers services like preparing gravesites, watering and maintenance, seasonal planting, and long-term care. Pre-need arrangements are also available.
