Damrosch Park is a 2.4-acre park at Amsterdam Avenue and West 62nd Street in Lincoln Square. It is part of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. The Daniel & Flor Guggenheim Memorial Bandshell is named after its sponsors. The Daniel and Florence Guggenheim Foundation presented it to New York.
Performances fill the air here. This bandshell in Damrosch Park provides spacious seating for 2500. Free outdoor concerts are often scheduled. These are organized by the New York City Parks Recreation and Cultural Affairs Administration. Damrosch Park itself honors three generations of one musical family. The Daniel & Flor Guggenheim Memorial Bandshell was built by Eggers & Higgins. Its doors opened May 22 1969. You can find it at the southwest corner of the Lincoln Center Plaza near Amsterdam Avenue.

In 2013 some residents sued. They felt these events conflicted with the park’s purpose. They wanted the park accessible year-round. Because of the May 2013 complaint New York Fashion Week was evicted. The twice-yearly invitation-only event had to find a new venue. This eviction occurred the following year.
Damrosch Park is located on the south side of the Metropolitan Opera House. It sits west of the David H. Koch Theater. The park’s south side has street entrances. The northeast corner connects to the Center’s central plaza.
