Da Nang became a major military base. The US Naval Support Activity was established here. It played a huge role supplying troops in South Vietnam. The base grew to become the Navy’s largest overseas shore command. The war ended on April 30 1975. The city was liberated by North Vietnamese forces.
Today’s Da Nang bears little resemblance to its war-torn past. It has transformed into a modern metropolis. Industry and tourism drive the economy. The city has beautiful beaches hotels and resorts.
