Culver West Park is officially named Culver West Alexander Park. It features a playground for kids. There is also a basketball court for sports enthusiasts. Handball and pickleball courts are available. A rec center provides space for community programs.
One unique feature of Culver West Park is its pooch path. Dogs are not allowed in other Culver City parks. But you can walk them through Culver West Park.
The park needs some improvements. The play surfaces near the playground are crumbling. The playground equipment is old and faded. The handball and pickleball courts are cracked. The basketball court has uneven blacktop. The backboards are old and weathered.
The Parks and Recreation Department recognizes these needs. There is an immediate need for $2 million to improve playgrounds. Culver West Park is included in the long-term plans. The plan includes increasing the park space.
