Between Dongcui and Xicui Villages lies Cuicun. This unassuming town holds a rich history. Its name literally means Cui’s Village. This refers to the town government’s location between two older villages.

Cuicun’s story spans centuries. In 1947 it was part of Changshun County. Its administrative status changed repeatedly. It became a township then a commune. Finally in 1999 Cuicun gained town status. This reflects its growth and importance.

Today Cuicun boasts twelve villages. These include Xicui Daxinfeng and Nanzhuang. The 2020 census revealed a population of 24630 inhabitants. The area covers 62.26 square kilometers. Imagine the stories held within those homes and fields.

Cuicun’s northern border touches the Taihang Mountain Range. It neighbors several other towns. Yanshou Town sits to the north. Xingshou Town is to the east. Xiaotangshan and Baishan are south of Cuicun. Nanshao and Shisanling towns lie to its west. This location offers a unique blend of mountain views and proximity to bustling Beijing.

The Mang Mountain Tourist Site is a popular attraction just northwest of Cuicun. Pictures from 2015 show the entrance to Daxinfeng Village. These glimpses offer a window into Cuicun’s modern life. Yet the history remains deeply embedded in the landscape and its people.

Cuicun’s past is palpable. The changing administrative divisions highlight its journey. From small villages to a thriving town Cuicun’s story continues to unfold. This journey is worth experiencing. It is a testament to resilience and growth. It also offers a fascinating insight into the evolution of rural Beijing.
