“A gateway between worlds,” you might muse. The Cross Border Industrial Area Frontier Building stands before you. It is not just a building but a testament to Macau’s evolving economic landscape.

This structure provides round-the-clock cross-border services. It facilitates trade and cooperation between Macau and Zhuhai. Its presence signifies Macau’s dedication to economic diversification.

The Cross Border Industrial Area Frontier Building is located in the Cross Border Industrial Area. This area spans Ilha Verde in Macau and part of Zhuhai. The State Council approved its establishment in 2003. The goal was to bolster Macau’s manufacturing sector. It aimed to house logistics and trade services as well.

Look up at the building’s height. It features a one-story basement and a seven-story superstructure. The gross floor area totals 8,610 square meters. The site itself covers 3,070 square meters. The Direcção dos Serviços de Solos, Obras Públicas e Transportes or DSSOPT was the client.

The industrial zone faced challenges initially. Some businesses struggled. About a third of the Macau side remained unused. However, the Macau government viewed it as a policy tool. It would promote diversification in manufacturing. Food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and computer components are manufactured here.

Consider the 24-hour customs checkpoint. It streamlines imports and exports. Goods made in Macau enjoy zero-tariff benefits for domestic sales in accordance with CEPA regulations.

The Zhuhai-Macau Cross Border Industrial Zone has two management styles. The Zhuhai side operates as a Free Trade Zone. The Macau side follows local laws and policies.

Today, the Cross Border Industrial Area Frontier Building stands as a symbol. It represents Macau’s ongoing efforts to broaden its economic base. It strives to foster collaboration in the region.
