The curved walls whisper secrets. This is the Crématorium de Wattrelos. More than just a building it’s a place of reflection a sanctuary of quiet remembrance.
Opened in 1981 the original Crématorium de Wattrelos served the Lille Métropole area. It was however soon outgrown. The increasing demand for cremation services required a larger and more modern facility.
In 2010 a new chapter began. A state-of-the-art crématorium replaced the old one. This new building boasts a unique design. Its rounded architecture stands in gentle contrast to more traditional structures. The design reflects a thoughtful consideration for those grieving. Soft colors and a serene atmosphere create a peaceful environment.
Spread over 1500 square meters this expansive complex offers ample space for mourning. Two ceremony rooms accommodate diverse needs. One comfortably holds 100 people. The other larger hall can seat up to 200.
Beyond the ceremony rooms lie spaces for quiet reflection. Condolence rooms provide intimacy for grieving families. These areas allow families to watch as loved ones begin their final journey into the crematory furnaces.
Modernity and respect for the environment are seamlessly intertwined. The Crématorium de Wattrelos employs three crematory furnaces. These advanced units include advanced filtration systems. They fully comply with environmental regulations implemented in 2018.
Beyond the practical aspects this place holds a deeper meaning. It serves as a symbol of community support. The dedicated staff provides compassionate guidance during difficult times. They are trained to support families through the complexities of the cremation process.
The Crématorium de Wattrelos is managed by the MEL Métropole Européenne de Lille. It is an integral part of their commitment to providing comprehensive services to the community. A testament to this commitment is the ample parking. The lot can accommodate approximately 100 vehicles. The surrounding green space offers a tranquil setting for personal meditation.
