In the heart of Osaka, where the Kizu River meets the sea, lies a place where creativity flows like the river’s current. Creative Center OSAKA, or CCO, isn’t your typical arts center. It’s a space reborn from the remnants of industry, a testament to Osaka’s dynamic spirit. Creative Center OSAKA stands on the grounds of the former Namura Shipbuilding Osaka shipyards. The docks, drawing offices, and other shipyard structures haven’t been erased. Instead, they have been repurposed, offering a unique backdrop for artistic expression. Imagine artists painting in the former drafting rooms where shipbuilders once meticulously planned massive vessels. Picture musicians filling the air with melodies where the clang of metal once echoed. Creative Center OSAKA is more than just a venue. It’s a fusion of past and present, a place where the echoes of industry harmonize with the vibrant pulse of artistic creation. In 2007, the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry recognized this unique blend by designating the site a Heritage of Industrial Modernization. Within Creative Center OSAKA, you’ll find a variety of spaces designed to cater to different creative needs. There’s the Black Chamber, a multi-level space with a raw, industrial feel, perfect for exhibitions and performances. The Studio PARTITA, a hall equipped with a stage, lighting, and sound, is ideal for music events and rehearsals. Even the outdoor areas, including the former shipbuilding docks, have been transformed into dynamic event spaces. Creative Center OSAKA is a hub for creativity and communication, a place where artists and the community can connect, collaborate, and explore the boundless possibilities of art.
