“In Christ, together, for the world” that’s more than just a saying here at Cottonwood Presbyterian Church. This is our guiding principle. Founded in the 1950s by a group of people, Cottonwood Presbyterian Church was established as a place to come together. They wanted to worship, raise families, and even sponsor a local scout troop.

Cottonwood Presbyterian Church stands as a beacon of hope. It has been a pillar of inclusivity in Salt Lake City for over 70 years. The church is part of the Presbyterian USA denomination. This denomination sprang from the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s.

Our church is a dynamic multicultural body of Jesus followers. We actively seek to make a positive impact on the world around us. Our congregation includes first-generation immigrants. They come from Cameroon, Nigeria, Pakistan, and China. We welcome all children of God, including our LGBTQ+ friends and neighbors.

The Presbyterian Church has approximately 2.4 million members. There are 11100 congregations and 14000 ordained and active ministers. Presbyterians trace their history back to the 16th century and the Protestant Reformation. Their heritage began with the French lawyer John Calvin. His writings crystallized much of the Reformed thinking that came before him.

Today Cottonwood Presbyterian Church is committed to exemplifying Christ’s love. We actively engage in local outreach initiatives. Our mission is to bring all people to know God’s grace. We want to empower people to lead and to serve.

Currently we use our property to meet the needs of our community. We do this in three major ways. First is the S.O.U.L Garden. About five acres of our land is divided into garden plots. These plots are used by gardeners from our membership and the wider community. Using sustainable organic methods our gardeners raise food to meet their own needs. They contribute about 20 percent to charity.

A pay-what-you-can farm stand each Sunday raises funds for local food charities.

Second we have Wonderbloom. This innovative preschool uses our building and yard. They care for children and nurture their knowledge and love of nature.

Third is Faith Christian Church. This church within our church serves refugees from Myanmar. They offer weekly worship and fellowship.

Cottonwood Presbyterian Church fosters a welcoming environment for all. We emphasize communal support and spiritual growth. Through worship and various mission partnerships we adapt our services. We strive to meet evolving community needs driving positive change.

So, whether you are a long-time member or a first-time visitor know that you are welcome here. Cottonwood Presbyterian Church is more than just a building. It is a community. A place where faith grows and love abounds.
