Did you know Coronate was once its own town? Before 1871 this small village thrived independently. It shared a close bond with the nearby Morimondo. This unique relationship shaped their history. The Coronate you see today is a fraction of what it once was. It’s now a hamlet a smaller part of Morimondo. But its past holds significant weight.

Coronate’s story is woven into Morimondo’s. For a long time they were inseparable. In 1771 they reached a population of 662. Napoleon’s reign brought changes. Ticinello Caselle and Basiano joined Coronate. Austria’s return altered this arrangement temporarily. They confirmed the additions of Ticinello and Basiano in 1841. Fallavecchia followed.

The unification of Italy brought Coronate under Milan’s jurisdiction. In 1870 Caselle joined again. On March 12 1871 Coronate’s identity shifted. The town changed its name to Morimondo. Coronate became a mere fraction a smaller part of Morimondo. The renowned Morimondo Abbey was the reason for the name change. It was seen as a symbol of prestige for the area.

Today Coronate stands as a quiet testament to a vibrant past. Its story is one of merging identities. It is a reminder of smaller towns swallowed by larger entities. The history of Coronate is intertwined with Morimondo. It is a piece of history preserved within a larger narrative. Visiting Coronate is like stepping into a forgotten chapter of Milan’s history a hidden story waiting to be discovered. The area once a thriving town is now a peaceful hamlet. Yet it continues to tell a tale of transformation and resilience.
