Find your people. Find your purpose. Find your place. This is the welcoming message of Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church in Midvale. Located on South Main Street the church has been a cornerstone of the community since at least 2015. That’s when Pastor Eli Shackleford took the lead. He’s passionate about sharing the word. He also loves connecting with the Midvale and greater Salt Lake City area.
Cornerstone isn’t just a Sunday morning gathering. It’s a vibrant community. Their services offer variety. The first Sunday is all about community. It’s relaxed with food and fun. The third Sunday is more conversational. It’s a time for questions and discussions. The second and fourth Sundays are classic services. These honor the church’s roots. Fifth Sundays are something different. They’re unconventional and focused on prayer and worship.
Cornerstone’s beliefs are clearly defined. They believe the Bible is God’s inspired word. They believe Jesus is the unique expression of God. The church itself is seen as a vehicle for God’s mission. Cornerstone also believes people bear God’s image. They strive to restore relationships and help those in need. This commitment to community is evident in their outreach.
Pastor Shackleford isn’t alone. He has Associate Pastor Andrew Block. Andrew joined in Spring 2021. He assists with communication preaching and music. He also focuses on building relationships within the congregation. He’s learning from Pastor Shackleford. Together they aim to serve God and the community.
