Indeed, life can be beautiful with Jesus Christ. That is the motto of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church. Let’s step inside this Hamtramck beacon of faith.

Corinthian Baptist Church’s story began in April 1970. Eight dedicated members started a small mission. Sis Jones and her husband were among those founding members. They initially gathered in homes for prayer and Bible study.

The growing mission soon needed a larger space. The YWCA opened its doors to them. Sunday morning worship continued there. A pulpit committee formed. It selected a pastor and a name for the church. The name Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church was chosen.

In August 1970, Rev Arthur E. Mills Jr became the church’s first pastor. By December 1970, Corinthian was officially established. Rev L. J. Jordan and 25 members founded the church. The church grew steadily.

In the spring of 1972, Mrs Mollie Roby donated two acres of land. It was located at the corner of Linden Avenue and Willow Street. A building was purchased and constructed. On September 17, 1972, the congregation worshipped in their new church. In 1974, a wayside bulletin board was installed. Shrubbery and trees were also added.

The Lord blessed Corinthian with many auxiliaries. The Angel Choir was established in 1974. The first grand Women’s Day began in March 1976. The Consecrated Choir was established in 1977. The Mother’s Board was established in 1980.

Groundbreaking for a new addition occurred in 1993. Corinthian Baptist Church continued to thrive.

Rev Arthur E. Mills Jr served as pastor for 42 years. In December 2015, Reverend Marshaundus Robinson became pastor. He had been the interim pastor since June 2015. The church matured during his tenure. There was both growth and pain during that transitional period.

On April 27, 2019, the pulpit became open. The Deacon Board took care of the church. Reverend Troy Starks began preaching and teaching. The search for a new pastor started.

On June 26, 2021, Rev Troy Starks became the Pastor.

Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church has survived and grown through God’s grace. It continues to serve its community. Remember their motto. Life can be beautiful with Jesus Christ.
