Gnawing curiosity led art collective Meow Wolf to open Convergence Station here in Denver. Meow Wolf is an immersive art installation and entertainment company. It was founded in 2008. Convergence Station is its third location. It is the largest at 90000 square feet. There are four floors available for the public. It is part museum part haunted house part theme park and part film set.
Convergence Station connects four alien worlds. These worlds are part of the Quantum Department of Transportation or QDOT. These include the frozen Eenia. There is also a cosmic superorganism Numina. You will also find the underground crystal mines of Ossuary. Finally there is the urban C Street. Over 110 local Colorado artists contributed to this project. There were 300 artists involved in total.
Let’s step inside Convergence Station. As you enter you arrive at Transit Station. Most people start on floor four. From here you can explore C Street. It is like a dark dimly lit futuristic city. Bright neon signs are everywhere. There is a flying car and a neon lit dump truck. Visitors can climb in touch and play with the buttons. A cool bus says Sun Valley. This is the neighborhood that Meow Wolf is located in. You can explore alleyways shops and even a laundromat. This laundromat has a secret door to another room.
On one side C Street connects to Numina. This is the largest universe. It spans across three floors. Hidden tunnels passageways and stairs lead to different levels. Elevators are hidden throughout the complex. They take wheelchair guests to all levels. Numina is very dark. It glows with stars unique vegetation and trees. You will also see bizarre creatures and different types of landscapes. Some pathways are a bit narrow. There are a few orbs and gardens that sing to you. The centerpiece spaceship talks to you when you are inside it.
Eemia is a frozen ice world trapped in a 1000 year ice age. The main attraction is the bright and colorful cathedral. There are lit up cathedral creatures and gargoyles. Check out the beautiful central organ. There are also two giant navigator robot sculptures. Visitors can sit in them and take a selfie.
The Ossuary is the underground world of Convergence Station. This area is surrounded by a lot of rocks. There are many tiny rooms to explore. One of the main attractions is the Ossuary Library. It is the hub of knowledge for the Ossuarians. I recommend the Reflective Passage room. It is like a maze of mirrors. The Daydreamers room is also cool. It features a wheelchair user as an empowering figure.
Meow Wolf’s Convergence Station opened September 17 2021. Since its debut it has become a favorite destination. Celebrities have toured Meow Wolf Denver. These include Bob Weir Megan Thee Stallion and David Byrne. Since opening 1.3 million people have gone through it.
