Ready to explore where global industries converge? The Convention Center CC in Hanover stands before us. It is more than just a building. It is a stage for innovation and a symbol of Germany’s economic resurgence.

The Convention Center CC is a futuristic building. Its impressive facade catches every eye at the Hanover fairground. Clients appreciate its look and comfortable conference rooms. These rooms come in various sizes and are booked repeatedly.

Let’s step back to 1947. Germany’s economy was shattered after World War II. Food was scarce and industry weak. The British occupying forces sought a symbol of German passion and economic potential. Thus, Deutsche Messe- und Ausstellungs-AG was born. So was the “Hannover Export Fair 1947.”

That first fair drew 736,000 visitors from 53 countries. Export contracts worth nearly 32 million US dollars were signed. The event became symbolic of Germany’s economic miracle. By 1950, foreign exhibitors joined what was now called “Deutsche-Industrie-Messe”. In 1961, it became “Hannover-Messe”. The name reflected the city’s pride in its role in the industrial upturn.

Inside the Convention Center CC, halls 1 to 3 accommodate major conferences. Hall 1 seats 1,140 people. Hall 2 seats 852 and has a stage. Hall 3 seats 521. Glass fronts can be darkened for presentations. Each room has professional conference technology. Halls 1 and 3 can be divided.

In 1970, Hall 1 broke records. At 70,300 square meters it was the world’s biggest exhibition hall. It even entered the Guinness Book of Records. The rapidly growing CeBIT trade fair got its start here. It was originally part of HANNOVER MESSE.

The Convention Center CC also features smaller rooms. Halls 11 to 18 hold about 72 people each. Connecting rooms 13 and 14 or 15 and 16 doubles the capacity. Rooms 101 to 113 suit seminars and workshops. A bright foyer connects all rooms. Snacks and drinks are served during breaks. Downstairs, eight halls accommodate conferences with up to 200 people.

Getting here is easy. Parking surrounds the Hanover fairground. A tramway station is near the Convention Center CC.

In 1988, European leaders met here. They set the course for the EEC’s free single market and monetary union. This summit remains unique for Hanover.

In 2000, Hannover hosted EXPO 2000. Deutsche Messe invested heavily in infrastructure. The exhibition grounds were modernized and expanded. Hannover gained the world’s biggest, most modern exhibition center.

The Convention Center CC has witnessed key political figures. Russian President Putin and other world leaders attended HANNOVER MESSE in 2005. American President Barack Obama opened HANNOVER MESSE 2016 with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The United States was the official Partner Country.

HANNOVER MESSE continues to evolve. Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things are key focuses. The Hannover exhibition center is being upgraded to become the world’s first 5G exhibition center.

The Convention Center CC offers 34 event areas. It hosts conferences and congresses. It is located in Hannover South, at the Hannover Fair.

As you leave the Convention Center CC, remember its story. It is a story of German resilience. It is a story of innovation. It is a story of global connection, right here in Hanover.
