Three men a shared vision. That’s how Congregation Beth Rambam began. More than 30 years ago in Southwest Houston a dream took root. A few families united. They wanted a Sephardic synagogue a place to preserve their traditions.
Congregation Beth Rambam stands before you a testament to that vision. It’s a vibrant Orthodox Sephardic synagogue. It’s located near the Medical Center and the Galleria. It’s more than just a building. It’s a community a living history.
Initially services took place in homes. Then a semi-permanent home was established in the Meadow Walk Townhouse Clubhouse. The congregation grew rapidly. It welcomed first and second generation Sephardic Americans Israelis Latin Americans immigrants from the Balkans Syria and Lebanon. Even Ashkenazi Jews found a place within its warm embrace.
Generous donations funded the construction of the first permanent building. It stands at 11333 Braesridge in the Southwest Fondren neighborhood. Today Congregation Beth Rambam continues to thrive. It welcomes people of diverse backgrounds and levels of observance. You’ll hear conversations in more than six languages any given day.
The sisterhood plays a vital role. Monthly meetings organize activities events and happy occasions. The synagogue offers numerous services and classes. Shabbat services include morning prayers Kiddush and lunch on Rosh Hodesh. Weekday services morning and evening classes and learning opportunities are plentiful. Classes are offered in English Spanish and Hebrew. Social events cater to young professionals and adults alike. There is even a Youth Director who leads activities and trips for children.
