Here at Complexul Sportiv Concordia Chiajna, history and sportsmanship intertwine. This is more than just a sports complex. It embodies the spirit of Concordia Chiajna.
Complexul Sportiv Concordia Chiajna’s story starts in 1957. Back then, Clubul Sportiv Concordia Chiajna had only one sport: football. The club went through name changes. It was known as GAC Chiajna and AS Chiajna. For a time, it was ILF Militari. This was when the Legume-Fructe Militari company sponsored the football team.
For years, the team played below the top divisions. They competed at an amateur level. In 1988, they tried to move up to Divizia C. But the team didn’t make it past the promotion play-offs. Success finally came in 1992. This was when Divizia A was briefly called Divizia Nationala.
The Concordia Sports Hall is part of this complex. It opened on December 15, 2006. Construction cost about 10 million euros. The hall can hold 1,465 spectators. Concordia Chiajna and Steaua Bucuresti use the hall.
CS Concordia II Chiajna was the reserve team. People called them “the Little Eagles.” They were founded in 2008. The goal was to develop young players. These players could then move up to the first team. Concordia II played in Liga IV Bucharest. Later, they bought a spot in the third tier. After seven seasons, “the Little Eagles” withdrew in 2018. But they returned in 2020. The team was dissolved in 2021.
Claudiu Niculescu is the head coach of CS Concordia Chiajna. Cornel Dobre is the assistant coach. Florin Matache trains the goalkeepers. Kane Mamour and Olivia Timnea are the doctors. Lucian Turcu is the fitness coach. Iulian Creanga is the masseur.
Complexul Sportiv Concordia Chiajna stands as a testament to perseverance. From its humble beginnings to its modern facilities, it is still growing. The dedication of its staff and players fuels the club’s continued success.
