A beacon of faith amidst change, the Community Church of Great Neck has witnessed the ebb and flow of history. Founded in May 1914, the Community Church of Great Neck initially served a small town of 4,000. The church grew alongside Great Neck, flourishing after World War II with over 600 families. This included diplomats and ambassadors, drawn to the area’s proximity to the newly relocated United Nations. The Community Church of Great Neck became a hub for a diverse congregation. Yet, as demographics shifted, membership declined. By the 1990s, only a handful of congregants attended Sunday services. A new chapter began in 1994. Cornerstone Church, a Chinese congregation, began renting the Community Church of Great Neck building. A partnership formed, leading to a merger in February 1998. This union revitalized the Community Church of Great Neck, blending English and Chinese services. The church introduced new ministries, attracting people of various ages and nationalities. Today, the Community Church of Great Neck stands as a testament to its resilient spirit. It embraces its multi-ethnic, multi-generational identity, continuing its legacy as a place of fellowship and spiritual growth.
