“Ignite, Incite, and Invite.” Ever heard that? That’s the theme of Greater Community Bible Tabernacle. Right here in Philadelphia, Greater Community Bible Tabernacle stands as a testament to faith. It also stands for community and perseverance.

Greater Community Bible Tabernacle, or GCBT as it is affectionately known, has a rich history. It started as a product of Community. Bishop Wallace W. Smith led this Community. In the mid-1990s, seven faithful women reorganized the church. They were called the Concerned Members of CBT.

Many original members have passed on. Their efforts helped the church become a vital part of Philadelphia. In April 1997, Reverend Stacey Roberts became the interim pastor. He was officially installed as pastor in 1999. Bishop Quander L. Wilson did the honors. He was the Prelate of the Greater Emmanuel International Fellowship.

In 2001, Elder Freeman Wilson Jr. became assistant pastor. He served faithfully until his death in December 2007. GCBT has faced many challenges. But it has grown thanks to God’s blessing. Committed members worked hard. Generous members gave much. Greater Community Bible Tabernacle belongs to the International Fellowship of Churches. Bishop Audrey F. Bronson leads this fellowship.

Greater Community Bible Tabernacle believes in prayer. It believes in praise. The church trusts in the Holy Spirit’s power. They think it can deliver those bound by many diseases. These diseases include spiritual and social problems. They also include familial and emotional challenges.

The Bible is God’s Word. Preaching the Gospel will change lives. The Church is God’s house. He invites everyone to His spiritual feast. This includes all races and colors. It includes all creeds and ethnicities.

Bishop Stacey W. Roberts has been the Pastor since April 1997. He served as Musician and Minister of Music in the past. He worked for Greater Community Bible Tabernacle. He also worked for other area Churches. Bishop Roberts graduated from Palmer Theological Seminary’s Pastoral program. He is a student in their “Master of Divinity” program.

Dr. Charmaine L. Green began attending Greater Community Bible Tabernacle in 1997. She accepted her call to preach under Pastor Stacey W. Roberts. She delivered her first sermon in 2004. Bishop Roberts appointed Dr. Green Assistant Pastor of GCBT in 2010.

Dr. Green is also an Adjunct Professor. She teaches at Palmer Theological Seminary’s Eastern School of Christian Ministry. Her unique focus combines health and spiritual wellness.

Greater Community Bible Tabernacle is a beacon. It welcomes all to experience faith. It offers support. It fosters community. It encourages spiritual growth. Remember GCBT’s theme. “Ignite, Incite, and Invite”. These words encapsulates their mission.
