Behold Community Bible Church a beacon of faith and community. This church isn’t just a building. It is a living testament to love, service, and spiritual growth.
Community Bible Church began in 1938. Reverend Jessie W. Coleman founded it. It was then called Community Baptist Church. In 2005, it became Community Bible Church. Members fondly call it “Home,” the “Hub,” or the “Hospital.”
Throughout its history, Community Bible Church has achieved remarkable things. This is especially noteworthy given its small congregation. The church sees itself as God’s 21st-century Gideon’s army.
Community Bible Church has had only four senior pastors. Pastor Jean Burch is the fourth. She is the first female pastor. She succeeded her father Pastor John W. Burch in April 2000. Each new pastor faced the challenge of preserving the church’s heritage. They also had to cast a new vision. This vision would be for the current times.
A significant highlight is the church’s affordable housing. It is provided through its non-profit corporation. This is called Community Bible Community Development Corporation or CBCDC. The CBCDC offers 260 affordable housing units. Their guiding principle comes from Matthew 25:31-46. Jesus urges believers to care for the “least of these.” Community Bible Church has always done this. Opportunities to serve are available. These are through outreach, community connections, and weekly volunteer work. This work occurs at the housing properties.
Community Bible Church exists to transform lives. It does so by exalting God. It also edifies believers and evangelizes the community.
The church’s worship music blends gospel, contemporary, and original Christian music. Some music is even written by the music team. It’s often described as upbeat and lively. Members sing loudly. They lift their hands. They clap and dance before the Lord.
There’s a strong emphasis on studying God’s Word. This includes both individual and corporate prayer. Quarterly prayer focuses involve prayer and fasting. Members are hardworking and committed to God’s Word. They demonstrate the unconditional love of Jesus Christ.
Community Bible Church stands as a testament to unwavering faith. It shows dedicated service and vibrant community spirit. It’s more than just a church. It’s a home, a hub, and a hospital. It is a place where lives are transformed.
