Have you ever seen two structures so intertwined, they seem to dance? The Communion Sculpture here in Parc des Rapides is just that. It’s a beautiful example of how art can represent complex relationships. The Communion Sculpture, created by Jacques Carpentier in 1990, is more than just a metal sculpture. It’s a symbol of the connections we share. Two tubular structures, one blue and one red, intertwine. They are made of four tubes connected by rings. This design symbolizes the interdependence and communion we have with others. The relationships we build can be close and sometimes complex, just like the interwoven tubes of the Communion Sculpture. The sculpture was created for an event called “Sculpture: Séduction 90”. This event showcased large-format sculptures in various parks around Montreal. Carpentier, a French artist who moved to Montreal in 1968, has other sculptures in the city’s collection. But the Communion Sculpture, with its vibrant colors and intricate design, offers a unique space to explore and contemplate. Walk around it.
