Have you ever heard of a pastor who started his journey at the tender age of nine? Right here at Coliseum Park Baptist Church, that’s precisely the story of Pastor LaCarlton Darnell Stephens. Coliseum Park Baptist Church isn’t just a building; it’s a testament to faith and community. It’s a Southern Baptist Convention church serving Bexar County. Pastor Stephens, a native of Livingston, Texas, felt the call to ministry at just nine years old. He served faithfully in the youth department at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Marston, Texas. His journey led him to be licensed to the ministry in 1991 under his father’s guidance. He was ordained in March 2001. He became an honor student and Student Association President at Open Door Christian Academy, even receiving the Outstanding Christian Award in 2000. After graduation, his leadership continued. He became the Pastor of Lone Star Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, Texas, from 2001 to 2005. His community involvement shone through his work with the Brothers Battling Against Drugs Organization. In 2005, he came to San Antonio and joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church under Rev. L.H. Mills, serving as the minister of Growth & Evangelism. Coliseum Park Baptist Church then called him to be their pastor. Today, you can find this vibrant community worshipping here every Sunday. Sunday School starts at 9:45 am, followed by the main worship service at 10:45 am. Wednesday evenings are dedicated to prayer meeting at 5:30 pm and Bible study at 6:00 pm. Coliseum Park Baptist Church’s story, intertwined with Pastor Stephens’ journey, is one of devotion and service.
