At Clevia Park, families gather under the watchful eyes of six towering treehouses. These aren’t just any treehouses. They form the unique Boomhutmuseum, a living testament to Suriname’s diverse heritage. Clevia Park is more than just a recreational space. It’s a place where education and entertainment intertwine. Founded by James Rasam of the Intermed Group of Companies, Clevia Park started as a vision for a “Green Medical Park.” Rasam wanted to create a space where people could learn about the healing power of everyday fruits and vegetables. He envisioned a shift from pills and capsules to a more natural approach to wellness. The park also embodies the concept of the Trustbank Amanah, a unique financial model. Rasam secured funding for the park through the Islamic Development Bank, opening its gates around 2018. Now, Clevia Park pulsates with life. Every Sunday, the Herbal Markt showcases the bounty of local, organic produce and goods from the Intermed Group. Children’s laughter echoes through the Kids Club, where they can ride horses, paddle boats, and try their hand at fishing. The two sparkling swimming pools offer a refreshing escape, one for children and a deeper one for adults. The pools are kept pristine with a natural helophyte filtering system and UV lamps. Beneath the canopy of the Boomhutmuseum, you’ll discover a curated collection of plants. These plants represent the diverse cultures that have shaped Suriname, mirroring the stories told within the treehouses themselves. In the Tiny Farm and Clevia Garden, local animals add to the vibrant atmosphere. Even relaxation takes on a unique form at Clevia Park. Visitors can indulge in shiatsu massages provided in collaboration with the Stichting Blindencentrum. Clevia Park also champions entrepreneurship. In 2017, they supported small businesses in aqua- and agriculture. The park consistently promotes healthy living and sustainability through workshops, coaching, and wellness markets. They even partnered with United Tour Guides Suriname in 2018 to train guides for nature parks. Clevia Park is a testament to the vision of its founder. It’s a place where fun, education, and community come together, all nestled under the shade of a remarkable treehouse museum.
