Back then, Cleveland District State High School was just a fledgling institution. It started with a mere 32 students on the grounds of Cleveland State School. Can you imagine that? This bustling hub of learning, once a quiet corner shared with a primary school. It quickly became clear that Cleveland needed its own dedicated space for secondary education. By the early 1960s, new buildings were constructed on Russell Street. The grand opening ceremony in 1963 was a momentous occasion. It was attended by no less a dignitary than Sir Thomas Hiley, the State Treasurer at the time. Cleveland District State High School has always been a place where excellence is nurtured. Today, it boasts an impressive array of excellence programs. Students can explore their passions in creative arts, languages, sports, and even a specialized Athlete Support Program. From those humble beginnings with just a handful of students, Cleveland District State High School has grown to accommodate over 2000 eager learners.
