Did you ever hear of a bowls club built on wartime camaraderie? This is Cleveland Bowls Club. It’s not just a place for a friendly game. It’s a testament to community spirit. Cleveland Bowls Club’s story begins around 1941. Though official records are scarce, correspondence hints at its wartime origins. Imagine, during those turbulent years, a group coming together to create a haven of sport and recreation. Over three years, they transformed the land. They established two greens, a machinery shed, and the first clubhouse. The Cleveland Bowls Club became a reality. The club expanded in 1980, leasing land from the Redland Shire Council to add a third green. The clubhouse we see today, a hub of activity and laughter, was officially opened in 1986. Cleveland Bowls Club thrives on the dedication of its members. Men’s and women’s branches work together. They ensure the club remains a “happy and friendly home away from home.” Volunteers support the bar and greenkeeping staff. Their dedication fuels the club’s continued success. Today, Cleveland Bowls Club welcomes visitors and new members. Whether you’re a seasoned bowler or curious about the sport, there’s a place for you here. From barefoot bowls on Sundays to various play days throughout the week, the greens are always alive with activity. And when the game is over, the Crackerjack Bistro offers a place to relax and refuel. It’s open Wednesday to Sunday. A full bar is available seven days a week. Cleveland Bowls Club isn’t just about bowls. It’s about community, camaraderie, and the enduring power of shared passion.
